LIVE LOCAL FORMENTERA
By Maria Mayans, hostess of Hostal Aigua Clara
Formentera is a ‘cheese’
They say that Formentera is a cheese, in the metaphorical sense, due to the geological formation, the island has a large number of caves, caves and underground passages such as the Cova de sa Mà peluda, Cova des Fum, Cova de sa Baixada, ses Coves den Oni, and on the coast of Migjorn the Cova de s’Aigua d’en Pep Talaia.
A creative and picturesque way to describe the shape of the island of Formentera.
FlowerPower at Formentera
In the 1960s, Formentera became a popular place for hippies and those who wanted to live in a free and uncompromising environment.
Another sign of the hippie legacy on the island were the fun summer parties called “FlowerPower”. They did three of them every year. The first one in mid-June in La Mola is the most popular; the other two were made in July, one in Es Pujols and another in Sant Francesc.
Es Caló: The hidden jewel of Formentera on the
east coast
Es Caló is a small beach of sand and rocks with crystal clear waters perfect for swimming and snorkeling. In addition, there is a wide variety of restaurants and bars where you can try the delicious local cuisine.
The cliffs and rock formations surrounding the cove give it a picturesque and unique atmosphere. Many visitors gather in the cove at the end of the day to enjoy the sunsets.
