Ball Pagès: Magic in Dance and Tradition
Do you know the Ball Pagès? This dance reflects the ancient beliefs and ancestral music of the island. Drums, flutes, the espasi (a peculiar metal percussion instrument that resembles a sword) and the large castanets come together in a unique rhythmic ensemble.
Men who participate in this tradition wear white vests with filigree bells, a striking red scarf and the iconic red barrette. Instead, women wear the typical peasant dress adorned with a multitude of dazzling jewelry.
Hippy Sant Francesc Market
If you like to enjoy the best design in art and artisan jewelry, the Sant Francesc Xavier Flea Market gathers every day the best artisans of the island of Formentera.
This market is open every day of the week, always in the morning from May to October. It is a hippy flea market of crafts, clothing, jewellery, handmade items, and much more.
Also in the town square, where the Town Hall is located, is where the most important festivals and events are held, in a festive atmosphere, quiet and above all cozy.
